Have a Medical Home.
They know you and have your records. - What is a medical Home
Be prepared.
Write down your symptoms and questions before your visit. Remember
that doctors office are very busy and being prepared will help.
Ask questions.
You're entitled to get an explanation you can understand, Don't
be afraid to ask if something isn't clear.
Follow instructions.
Your doctor's advice only works if you follow it. Take
notes, repeat back what you think you are to do, or ask your doctor
to give you the information in writing.
Don't be shy.
Your doctor needs to know all the facts to help you. Talk openly
about medications you're taking, your symptoms, diet or things like
alcohol use, smoking and sexual practices. Remember, your doctor
is there to help, not judge.
