Home-Based Program

The HCESC Home-Based program is designed for children whose parents would:
  • Like to keep their child at home longer
  • Are unable to enroll in a center program.

In the Home-Based program:
  • Educational staff work closely with parents to help them understand the developmental process and uniqueness of their child.

  • There are 32 (1.5 hour) home visits that occur over the course of the year in the child's home.
  • Each month the family attends a classroom socialization and at least one field trip.
  • Over the course of a month, the family is exposed to learning opportunities in each component area.

The Home-Based Program Helps Parents By:

  • Assisting them to find ways to help their children learn
  • Helping parents to find food that is nutritious and affordable
  • Shows parents ways to teach good health habits to their children
  • Provides opportunities to get together with other families for fun, learning and socialization

The Home-Visitor's Role:

  • Visits the family one time each week in the child's home
  • Assists the parents in locating community resource
  • Works with parents to develop learning activities

The Parent's Role:

  • To participate with the Home-Visitor during the home visits
  • To make arrangements for medical and dental appointments
  • To keep in touch with the Home-Visitor about schedule changes
  • To follow through with home learning activities after the home visit
