A "medical home" is a doctor or health center who knows
you or your child and can help you with health problems. It is always
a good idea to have a "regular doctor" or health center.
Primary care doctors
are your partners for your child's health. They treat ear infections,
check growth and development, give "baby shots," and answer
middle-of-the night phone calls.
Emergency rooms only
take care of emergencies.
Immunization clinics
only give "shots." Your child's primary care doctor does
more. Your doctor or health center provides your child with a medical
home.
